If you're like me (and my girlfriend, too - she's a toughened Zombie gamer), you're eagerly awaiting the drop of the next Black Ops II Zombie map. Apocalypse, the latest and final expansion back for the game, will be available for purchase in the XBOX Store today - or simply for download if you bought the season pass.
Apocalypse adds four new maps to multiplayer mode, and although I used to be excited about the thought of cavorting around barren wastelands, planting Semtex on enemies and shooting them in their stupid faces, that's not the real draw for me anymore. Ever since I started playing Zombies, I haven't been able to stop.
The thing is, I used to be afraid of Zombies. That's not because I was afraid of the situations that the game throws you in - I played through Dead Space and didn't crap my pants - but because of the difficulty level. The hordes of zombies in the later rounds (the teens and twenties - I'm not that good) get to be oppressive, where movement is as limited as a crowded fairground.
But once I got into it, I really got into it. Now I can't stop trying to get to the highest level, attempting the pack-a-punch machine with groups of zombies chasing me. It's sort of an obsession, but one that my girlfriend and I share.
Apocalypse adds one Zombie pack to Black Ops II - Origins. While one map doesn't seem like a lot of bang for your buck, I can speak from experience when I say that every expansion pack for Zombies so far has added huge maps and tons of new mystery. Origins should be no different!
As the title suggests, this new map pack takes players back in time to the first encounter with zombies; the same original characters will be playable in this. I haven't played it myself, so I don't want to spoil any of the surprises by looking up more info, but suffice to say I am super excited to see where this excursion takes us.
